Brigadier General William B. Blaylock II serves as the Director of Logistics, J4, National Guard Bureau. As the Director, he is the primary advisor to the Chief, National Guard Bureau for all joint logistics and engineering matters. Coordinates plans and operations with Offices of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Departments of the Army and the Air Force, and other Federal departments and agencies. He responsible for supporting the CNGB and 54 Joint Force Headquarters-States to prepare for and accomplish the State and Federal mission.
General Blaylock received his commission in the Missouri Army National Guard as a Second Lieutenant through Southeast Missouri State University Army Reserve Officer Training Corps in May 1988. General Blaylock has held command leadership positions at Company, Battalion, and Brigade levels, to include a mobilization to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom where the battalion served as the Mine and Explosive Ordnance Information Coordination Center. General Blaylock served as the Task Force Commander during Operation January Ice for State Emergency Duty in 2009, covering an area of 12 counties and mission sets of route clearance, health and welfare checks, and power production for hospitals and warming centers. During his tenure as Brigade Commander the brigade served as the Task Force headquarters for the “Beyond the Horizons” exercise in Guatemala. General Blaylock has also completed staff assignments at senior level headquarters and is currently assigned to a joint position at the National Guard Bureau.
